Three Lessons From The Birds

Three Lessons From The Birds

Last night, the St louis Cardinals baseball team fell behind 6-0 by the second inning to the Milwaukee Brewers, the first place team in the central division. It was devastating. A pitcher with a lot of promise had just returned from the disabled list and everyone was excited for him, and the team, until the end of the second inning. Then the excitement was all but gone.

Then the Cardinals started chipping away one run at a time until we looked up and the score was 6-4! All of a sudden there was new hope; maybe they CAN pull off a come-back win! In the eight inning the score was 6-6; and in the top of the ninth, they scored the winning run, the closer came in and got the save. You talk about excitement, it was back for sure.

That win over the Brewers put the Cardinals within one game of first place in the central division. What a night!

Now, doesn’t that sound a little like your internet marketing business?

It is a good thing to be excited and motivated when it comes to your marketing, but how many times have you experienced a set-back that totally drained your enthusiasm for the business? How many times have efforts failed to produce the desired results? How many times have you felt like a loser rather than a winner?

There are at least three lessons to be learned here.

Lesson One:

You CAN mount a come-back; you MUST experience a bounce-back! Failure is NOT fatal. If you will just keep doing what you know is the right thing to do, or learn what is the right thing to do, then eventually you will make up for that brief failure. One run at a time; one day at a time; one project at a time; one sale at a time. Before long, you will tie the score; you will break even and stop going in the hole. Then the excitement will return and new hope will spur you on until it’s more than just breaking even. You will pull ahead and start making a profit. Don’t let the ‘down’ times pull you down. They will happen more times than you desire, but you can force yourself to keep a positive attitude until such a time that the inward motivation is back.

Lesson Two:

You have to constantly be aware of the ‘big picture’ in your marketing business. One project is NOT your business; one sale is NOT your business; one day, whether $100 or $1000, is NOT your business. It’s hard, sometimes, to see the forest for all the trees in the way! You have to remind yourself that what you are experiencing right now is just a tiny part of the whole process. The emotions that you are feeling right now, high or low, are not a true picture of the end game, which is a sustainable business that will last a lifetime (if that is your desire). If you can see each victory and each set-back as just one piece of the puzzle, then you are well on your way to the top. You, along with the Cardinals, can be first place in your division; top authority in your niche; top of the leader board!

Lesson Three:

You would have to dig a little deeper to see it, or be following one of these two teams to know it. Both teams have had their struggles this year (haven’t we all). The Brewers started the season hot, jumped out to first place early and placed a large gap, at times, between the rest of the teams in the division. The Cardinals have struggled with offense; scoring runs hasn’t come easy. It’s been a tense first half of the season. However, in the last 7 to 10 days, things have turned around. The Cardinals, despite key players being injured, have started hitting more consistently and scoring a few more runs than what we have become accustomed to this year and the Brewers have gone into a tailspin losing something like 9 out of the last 10 games. What’s going on?

If you have ever played golf, ball of any kind or any other sport, then you know that what I am about to say is true. Most victories or failures on or off the field, at home, in business or in life are determined by your mindset! If you think you can, or if you think you can’t, you are right!!!! This is NOT an exercise in positive thinking. It’s not just the thinking that changes things. When you are not thinking right, you (we) tend to do nothing but sit around licking your wounds and thinking what you might have been were it not for a few situations that held you back. But when you are thinking right, you will DO the right things that will bring the right results.

These lessons are for the birds! But, not JUST for the birds; they apply to all of us in all areas of life and business. For more on the ‘birds’ – A Winning Atmosphere

I like this blog, how can I help you and me get ahead. Your analogy sounds like what the Giants are going through right now. I hope they continue on.
I need some guidance . Looks like everything I touch is hot on this page.
